Human Rights are defined by the United Nations' (UN) in their Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) from 1948.
The declaration is split into 30 articles and available in over 500 languages.
What defines a Human Rights Violation?
Human Rights Violations are any major violation of any of the 30 articles outlined and defined within the UDHR by Governments, Governmental Bodies.
The interactive map has been created with this in mind.
The process of determining the amount of violations
Referencing my source data from Human Rights Watch Reports and UN Human Rights Council,
the data was then read alongside the 30 articles of the UDHR and the country received a strike for that article if they did not meet the articles definition in anyway.
Additionally, as the UDHR was written in 1948 and uses language would not be considered politically correct if written today, some minor modern assumptions were made in regards to terms used.
